Simply Elated's Top 5 Best Books About Health and Wellness

The following books have all been read for knowledge that has been applied by the founder of Simply Elated, Kenan Alsamman, to improve health and wellness. I, Kenan Alsamman, have been a long journey towards long-lasting health and wellness. All of these books have changed my life and left a permanent, positive impression on me. There was a time I was severely suicidally depressed, on strong anti-depressants, going through painful anxiety attacks and had poor digestive health. In those moments, I had never been hungrier for obtaining knowledge about restoring myself back to health; both mentally and physically. That is why I would like to share with you the Top 5 Books I have read about Health and Wellness!

#5 - How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy by Paul Chek

This book was a great read because it includes a special questionnaire that you can fill out to better find an exercise and diet program that fits your individual needs. Paul Chek is a world renowned Holistic Health Practitioner and is well known among fitness athletes for his unique exercise training and wisdom. Paul Chek is not only concerned with getting you in good physical shape, but constantly emphasizes the need for good mental/emotional health as well as digestion.

Many people involved in fitness seem to only care about what you look like on the outside. Personally speaking, I used to weight lift 4 times a week at the gym and seemed to look healthy on the outside. The problem was I was a mental wreck. I was on anti-depressants, in and out of the psychiatrists office and my digestive health was horrible. The constant constipation and anxiety was really taking a toll on me. I could not perform as well I could in the gym and at the same time, my diet was okay, but stress had so many negative effects on my body which made me weak and forced me to stop training.

This book really addressed a lot of issues from all aspects of health and was able to provide excellent stretching routines to address specific muscular imbalances. I still do these exercises to this day and the result has been wonderful. My posture and flexibility has improved and of course: my digestive health. This book is definitely a must-have!

#4 - The Miracle of Fasting: Proven Throughout History For Physical, Mental & Spiritual Rejuvenation by Paul and Patricia Bragg

I purchased this book when I was focused solely on restoring my digestive health. I was looking for a way to get my body to start properly absorbing nutrients. I had chronic constipation and diarrhea and was fed up with living like this during my early 20's. Fasting was nothing new to me; I had fasted in the past for religious reasons but I never adjusted the procedure to better benefit my health. This book gives you loads of information about fasting, the different types of fasting and how long you should fast for. There were protocols for different a duration of fasting such as 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, etc. and each fast had its own purpose.

This book really lived up to it's name; it was in fact a miracle. The fasts I participated in ranged from 1 day to 9 days. Not only did I feel great and refreshed during these fasts, I actually ended up eliminating some digusting parasites after 3 days. I had never seen this before but I had such a relief knowing that it was out of my body. I must say that I cannot guarantee any results of fasting but I can definitely attest to it's benefits on my body in particular.

It is up to you and your physician to determine whether fasting would be suitable for you. The interesting thing about fasting is that for me, I did not even feel hungry. One has to participate in fasting on an optimistic mindset during a time where stress is not too high. Fasting felt peaceful, easy and made me feel a sense of being reborn and refreshed after eating food again. #3 - Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by James L. Wilson

I purchased this book while I was trying to find natural ways to cure my health issues. I was suffering from depression, anxiety and many physical health problems such as poor digestion, increased allergies and low vitality. During this time, I had to stop lifting weights at the gym because I started feeling too weak and my strength was actually decreasing. At the same time, I felt pain in my joints and it took longer for me to recover in between workouts.

I researched these symptoms and discovered articles explain what Adrenal Fatigue is. For those that don't know, the adrenals are a walnut-sized gland that sit on top of your kidneys. They are responsible for producing hormones such as adrenaline, cortisol and testosterone. They are very important glands that respond to stress but when overworked, they can weaken and fail to provide adequate amounts of the hormones I previously mentioned. This can result in a weakening of the human body, higher susceptibility to getting sick and decreased sex drive.

I then discovered this book and decided to give it a read. I am happy that I did. This book was written so well and in a way that was easy to understand. This book explains in detail the role that the adrenals play in the body but in a way that anyone can understand. I felt joyous reading this book because I was learning so much about the human body and it was not torturing me with too many technical medical terminology that only a doctor would understand. The book explains in detail the dietary recommendations as well as numerous techniques to avoid feeling stressed out. It encompasses both physical and mental healing.

This book is a great read for those that I looking to reduce stress and allow there immune system to be restored back to a normal level so that you can live a happy and healthy life.

#2 - Emotional Wellness: Transforming Fear, Anger, and Jealousy into Creative Energy by OSHO

Osho is hands-down my personal favourite spiritual teacher of all time. This was the first book I purchased from him and it was worth every single penny. This is the book that changed my mental/emotional health for good. In this book, he talks about meditation and the nature of consciousness. There are literally thousands of meditations out there, but the one that he talks about is called Vipassana Meditation. This meditation involves watching your thoughts like waves passing by and not interfering.

This was the book that allowed me to overcome depression and anxiety for good. This is the book that allowed me to come off all of my medications that I had previously been on. This book really is the real deal and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to read it.

My perception of life drastically changed for the better. I had this feeling and realization that almost everything I had been taught was a lie. I couldn't see life the same way I had used to. What I realized was beyond the mind's comprehension and it spoke a deep truth to me that can't be put in words; it can only be felt and understood.

I would strongly recommend everyone purchase this book. It was a game-changer for me!

The book includes a very effective Liver and Gallbladder flush that flushes gallstones from the liver bile ducts and gallbladder out of the body. Doing so brings imrpoved digestive health, removal of many health symptoms and decreased allergies. I have done this flush a number of times with both successes and failures. The book also includes much more information about how to restore health into the body and explains using core teachings of Ayurvedic medicine. Ayurveda is a traditional form of medicine that originated in India thousands of years ago. Andreas was a trained Ayurvedic practitioner with over 40 years of experience in natural healing.
